Aegis Mesh Concepts
Aegis is a virtual brand I created in Second Life, by Linden Lab. Skills learned from this project were 3D modeling, UV mapping, and lighting in Autodesk Maya.
What is Aegis?
In ancient Greece, leather cloak or breastplate generally associated with Zeus, the king of the gods, and thus thought to possess supernatural power.
Zeus’s daughter Athena adopted the aegis for ordinary dress. Athena placed on her aegis a symbolic representation of the severed head of the Gorgon Medusa. Basically, it's a shield that protects you from harm. Seeing how interesting this theme was and my interest in how intricate shields were, I decided to create a brand based on these themes.
3 dimension as a medium
Building in 3D has its own set of workflows that are both challenging and rewarding. Aside from my usual design process, 3D modeling required much more logical and tactical brainstorming.
